Intersectionality

Intersectionality

By Alyssa Martignetti

Intersectionality can be defined as the deep-rooted oppression of people in the workplace  and the broader community due to one's multiple identities.

 Negative outcomes include:

  • larger wage gap
  • lack of diversity in the workplace
  • high turnover rates
  • continued racism and bias

Factors include (but are not limited to):

  • gender
  • race
  • sexuality
  • class
  • disability

As a country we must educate ourselves on intersectionality as it is important to understand and accept those with overlapping identities.

If you are seeking help or education regarding to intersectionality, here are some resources:

How we are armored in knowing the resources to help us move to change

Through this blog, the Armored Angels hope to provide you with the knowledge to educate, inspire, and armor yourself and others with resources. We will be focusing on five issues relevant to 2020: mental health, intersectionality, domestic violence, workplace equality, and reproductive rights. We will address how these issues have been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and the current political climate and what you can do to make a change. Together, we are empowered to create an equal, safe, and kind world. *To navigate the blog, simply click on the above pages.
