 Workplace Equality

By Kiki Mehta

What? It's simple: Equality is treating everyone the same. Regardless of gender, sex, religion, socioeconomic background, etc. There must be equality in the workplace for optimal success.

Who/When? EVERYONE is involved. Specifically workplace--Everyone who works! From team members to managers to senior leadership. The more you speak, the more awareness there is!

Why? Happy employees means better business. When there is an environment where everyone can feel safe to be themselves,  respected on their talents and work ethic and given equal opportunities to succeed, they will thrive. In return, this helps the team, leadership, and overall organization to perform at it's best.

Covid-19 Impact: If working from home, many are faced with technology issues, childcare, workflow, and many other circumstances. Companies tend to favor/give opportunities to those without circumstances.

!Important Terms!

Discrimination: unjust treatment of people or ideas based on race, sex, age, religion, or background.

Unconscious Bias: having judgements or making decisions triggered by stereotypes or other unconscious beliefs about social/cultural groups
